SPA TIME
A spa can be an oasis to escape the daily grind, relax, clear your mind and rejuvenate your body and soul. We have some suggestions for creating spa time at home to be savored when possible, either a great start to your day or maybe at the end of the day when everyone is asleep and you get some uninterrupted 'me' time. Be sure to start your spa time in a relaxing atmosphere, such as your own bathroom, but make sure it's as uninterrupted as possible. Add some fresh cut flowers in a vase, light some candles, put on soft music. Perhaps you pour a glass of wine, or brew a cup of tea, whatever puts you in a relaxed state. Have a pair of new or special pajamas/robe and a soft pair of slippers ready. Enjoy your spa time!
SOAK TIME!
A warm bath is a wonderful way to relax our muscles and clear your mind. Adding bubble bath or fragrance oils makes it that much more relaxing. You can find bubble bath in many different places, different price ranges and an never ending assortment of aromas. Or you can add a few drops of essential oil, such as lavendar essential oil. A great addition to a essential oil bath is also to add Epsom salts or dead sea salts.
Fill a tub with warm water, add 1 pound of the salts, add 4-6 drops of essential oils, agitate the water and step into your oasis. Soak for 20-30 minutes, and just relax!
As you are soaking, concentrate on your breathing and let your mind wander to something you love to think about. Don't think about the piles of laundry either waiting to be washed or put away, don't think about the endless lists of things you need to get done and the fact there is not enough time... just breathe! Think about the air you are inhaling, your chest expanding. Breathe in slowly, hold the breathe for a moment, then slowly let it out again. Repeat this process about 5 times and slowly start to relax!
CHAMOMILE
Chamomile is great for it's anti inflammatory properties, it's not just a delicious tea! It is believed to enhance your immune system and help fight colds, relieve muscle and menstrual cramps, helps you relax and sleep, among many other reputed properties.
Chamomile eye compresses will help tired eyes look and feel better. Soak 2 chamomile tea bags in boiling water, steep, remove the tea bags and enjoy the tea. Be sure to save the tea bags, cool them down and use them directly on your closed eyes as a compress. Your body and eyes will look and feel so much better!
HOME SPA PARTY!!!
While some nights you need your own spa time, sometimes it's fun to share these moments with your close group of friends, a small group or just one other friend. These are the times you might want to open a bottle of wine or champagne and some appetizers. You will want to prepare some group spa treatments, such as foot treatments/pedicures, hand treatments/manicures, facials, hair conditioning treatments and maybe even a make up application party. A night with great girl friends, great cocktails and apps, and great treatments can be just as relaxing for your soul as a solo quiet spa night!
